Pros

You can work when you want, as long as you complete your hours for the day. Great scheduling concept for students. However, this is literally the only pro.

Cons

Outdated/overused and extremely uncomfortable furniture. If they expect you to knock out your hours in full every day without getting up to move or stretch or rest, you think they would at least provide a comfortable, ergonomic and supportive desk environment. The supervisors care about themselves and their necks are on the line so if you’re slipping by even just a little bit they will be on your butt to give you “reminders”. You can’t miss more than 15 minutes of work in a week, or else you have to come for 30 more minutes and make those missing 15 up. If you are a student with many responsibilities, this job is not recommended for you because they are extremely unforgiving about schedule adherence. You cannot get up out of your chair even to use the bathroom because you must log out (clock out) and the system will not let you clock back in for 32 minutes. Now they say they do this to allow for breaks, but if you work a three hour shift of fatiguing and mind numbingly repetitive work and take 3 breaks, that 3 hours at the office just became 4.5 hours. Doing more than 5 hours in one sitting is a great way to lose your sanity. And seriously...come up with a new bathroom policy for Christ’s sake. The employees are people, not machines. If the company wanted machines for their work they might as well have hired Siri or some other AI that transcribes. The pay is horribly low for the level of work and the “incentives” are not easy to meet every single pay period. Your fingers will hate you by the time your shift is done. By its nature, the work is incredibly isolating and the constant clicks of keyboards will also drive you slightly insane. There is absolutely no advancement, except for a QA position which gets paid slightly higher. I’ve worked at fast food places that are much more humane than this company in their policies.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We're very sorry to hear that your time at Copytalk Business Services was a negative experience for you. Let's address some of the issues you laid out. - Uncomfortable furniture: The Gainesville office tested out several chair models and picked the best option, and we have since replaced many of our oudated chairs with that. We are also now providing more height-adjusting options for desks across offices. - Scheduling rules: As you mentioned, you can work whenever you want, as long as you complete your hours for the day. Our scheduling flexibility is hard to beat, but we do have a Turn Around Time that we have to consider. We count on everyone to work the hours that they scheduled themselves so that we can get the dictations back to our customers on time. - Break policy: There is leniency with that break policy and each Operations Supervisor can use their discretion to override it on a case by case basis. - Advancement opportunities: All members of management across offices started out as entry-level scribes. We always pull from our existing staff for promotions. As you mentioned, QAs are the first promotional option, but then there are keyholding positions, Operations Supervisor positions, and finally Operations Manager positions. We are currently working to expand those opportunities to include internships with the corporate office as well.

Pros

Flexible hours No customer interaction

Cons

No benefits No paid time off Low wage, barely enough to subsist in this inflationary economy. Infeasible targets for pay raise Intensive mental work and highly specialized performance targets for little reward. Takes a toll on your health, as you’re required to sit and type all day. Carpal tunnel, joint pain, and blood clots are all possible complications from doing work like this. Health insurance is consequently a must, and they don’t offer any except to the most senior employees.

Thank you for your feedback. We try to make the job appealing and rewarding for those who do want to work here. Although we hope everyone we hire likes it hire we realize this job is not for everyone. We have recently reduced our hiring with an increased focus on our more experienced employees. Although we can't please everyone, we are grateful to all of our long-term employees and see that average employee tenure is at a high point compared to times past. Sorry that it didn't work out for you, and good luck in your next endeavor.
