Compensation for transcriptionists

Pros

They do offer bonuses for CERTAIN accounts, flexibility in schedules, account manager is wonderful. IT is very knowledgeable and helpful, very quick to respond.

Cons

Transcriptionists/VR editors do not get fairly compensated for the skill set that is required. Even 8 cents a line plus bonuses (if you get them) means you are busting your hump night and day and barely make ends meet. Then, if you get an account where there are multiple locations to choose from and the physician doesn't state which location or give you a date of service, you are stuck sifting through multiple schedules (if you've even received it that day), TRYING to locate the correct patient (if they've even given you the name), which is wasting time/money.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience with Command Health. We are always happy to hear from our employees. Transcribing and Voice Recognition editing is a challenging job that does require a unique and highly trained skill set and we are thankful to all of our wonderful employees that work so hard to give our clients the high quality reports that the medical community relies upon. Our company currently offers bonuses for all VR editing accounts, which accounts for 90% of the reports we produce. Our base line rate for both transcription and editing is commensurate with industry standards and our bonus structure makes our pay very competitive. Please be sure you are utilizing QA for issues such as not being able to locate a patient. If you would like to discuss these issues further, please feel free to contact Human Resources or discuss them with your manager. We believe that we employ the best of the best and feel that our team members are fairly compensated for their quality work. However, challenges will arise and we must work together to find the answers to these challenges.

Not for me.

Pros

Very organized company. I enjoyed the employee status for taxes. Allowed training pay. Most colleagues were very nice and friendly, although my direct supervisor was a little anal.

Cons

Software platform cumbersome to allow for any substantial line count. In several months, I was never able to make more than about $700 in 2 weeks, not sustainable.

We are sorry to hear you found our platform too cumbersome to allow you to achieve your expected income. As a whole, our MTs earn an average of nearly $15/hour with our top producers earning over $25/hour. We all have our own unique blend of talents and techniques, however, and what is a great fit for one MT may not be for another. We hope you find a position that is more suited to your strengths and wish you the best in your future endeavors.
