Pros

Decent salary, a couple competent teammates outside of management.

Cons

Severe lack of security industry experience. Nobody in management has any technical experience in computer security aside from the CTO (and his technical experience was 20 years ago and unrelated to malware analysis). The whole venture felt like a scam on the investors but turned out to just be incredible incompetence. We wasted an entire year trying to "gamify" a malware analysis engine that never worked. Entire engineering team worked evenings and weekends to meet launch deadlines that never happened. The CTO repeatedly promised everybody additional compensation for their long hours but it never came. Management doesn't honor promises. Management promised funding for training and conferences over and over but every time anyone would ask it was turned down. The company promised "up to 12 weeks paid parental leave". I was only allowed to take 1 week when my son was born. They removed this statement from the careers page on the company website after I asked for clarification on the parental leave policy and was never given any additional information on the official policy. I listened to multiple recorded calls our management had with prospective technology partners and they were filled with outright lies about CodeHunter's product's capabilities. Nobody in management has any idea what they're talking about in regards to the technical aspects of malware analysis or cybersecurity research in general. Marketing materials (including the company website) are filled with nonsensical buzzwords that expose a lack of understanding of the industry and subject matter. For example, the CTO would repeatedly emphasize how Codehunter's malware analysis product was unique because it "doesn't require source code". What malware analysis product DOES require source code of the malware being analyzed? All the external marketing materials, videos, etc. are filled with nonsense or outright lies about the product. CodeHunter has been lucky this far in having investors that know even less about cybersecurity and malware analysis than the people running the company. If the investors ever decide the take a critical look into how CodeHunter's CEO and CTO have wasted their money, the company will implode. It's all marketing fluff, incompetence, stubborn ignorance, and lies. Don't expect any long-term success from this company.

Possibly the WORST company to work for

Pros

There are none other than they are willing to throw money away, and they buy you lunch every day if youre in office.

Cons

This company has absolutely no clue what they are doing. Their leadership shows glaring knowledge gaps and makes arbitrary decisions at every turn. During my 2.5 year tenure here, the company lost more than 20 people because they continuously fire/layoff people then hire for the same positions. Often times this is done because someone disagreed with leadership about their vision for the company, which by the way, they have none. During my time at CodeHunter, the idea of what the company was going to be changed 4 times, and the product they are supposedly building has been soft launched 3 times (it still doesnt work). Even though the CEO touted how much money the company had raised and had in the bank, the pay discrepancy between employees was large and arbitrary, and the bonuses/raises/education incentives that were promised were never once given, except for higher leadership who routinely were awarded quarterly bonuses. The only reason this company has good reviews is leaderships push on lower level employees to leave them in an attempt to boost CodeHunters name. At one point CodeHunter hired an employee with a known history of harassment who was subsequently fired less than 3 months later for, you guessed it, harassing female employees, multiple times. During my time Codehunter was involved in multiple lawsuits. This company is falling apart fast, and in over 3 years has not produced a single working product. This company absolutely wastes talent, and anyone who values their professional image should stay far away from this company.
