Pros

- Great mission - Remote (for the most part)

Cons

- The CEO has no qualifications for leading an organization; do not expect to be coached or developed as he doesn't know how - The CEO displays textbook narcissistic behavior and paranoia, believing that everyone is out to get him or steal his ideas; he leads with fear and intimidation - The CEO has a strong disdain to DEI work - There is no clear direction for the company; decisions and vision change by the day, depending on how the CEO is feeling - The CEO models inefficient leadership; he doesn't trust his staff and as such all decisions need to be approved by him - The CEO can never admit if he made a mistake or is wrong; he becomes angry and defensive when given feedback - The CEO doesn't make decisions in the best interests of the company but for himself and will never be able to scale the company - Most positions are listed as remote, but if you are in the Austin area, you can expect to be asked to perform last-minute in-person requests and errands - The CEO believes that employees should work more than 40 hours/week; there is no work/life balance and many staff have worked themselves into sickness - Extremely high staff turnover due to the CEO If you are interviewing, take notice of the red flags. Don't be fooled by the gaslighting show the CEO puts on. If you receive an offer, turn it down and run away - you and your mental health will be better off for it. There is no future for anyone at this organization.

Pros

Great overall mission. Nothing else stands out.

Cons

When looking at reviews, you have to have an understanding that some companies have angry workers that say bad things sometimes. This is different, please save yourself from disappointment. Take all negatives reviews as fact. If you are interviewing or working for this company, please reconsider your situation. There are dedicated people on the team but they don't last long. The CEO is egotistical, condescending, and overall unprepared and unrealistic about the company's needs and how to support people. Take a look at another very popular app for connecting with people in the work place. Search for people who have worked at Code2College. Look at their tenure. No one stays long. From the time you receive your offer you are doomed. Most of the time, the interview process likely hasn't been smooth but you press forward. You either leave from extreme frustration of broken promises and mismanagement or because you have done something or mentioned something that the CEO doesn't agree with. At this point, he deems you unfit or not in line with his views and let's you go. The amount of talent that has left here is astronomical. Some refuse to speak to the CEO before their departure, while others cut all ties after departure. I would not, I repeat... NOT follow through with employment here. Along with all mentioned, the benefits offered have HUGE premiums. Payroll is often off. A strong HR team is heavily needed to assist but the CEO rejects it. Save yourself. Look elsewhere. Unorganized and unethical.

The mission is the only good thing about this company

Pros

The only pro is that the company has a great mission.

Cons

I highly discourage anyone from ever considering working for this organization. At this point, I am only here for the paycheck and just hope to be let go. The CEO is a terrible leader who is a micromanager, who will change your role at least once a month, who will create a sense of urgency for every project to then not use any of your work. I raised some funds for this organization and just have guilt around that now because I believe there are way better organizations to donate to. I have worked for start-ups before and was drawn to this company for that reason but it is nothing like what I expected. This company is terrible to work for not because it is relatively young but because it is so disorganized. The company also tries to downplay so many people leaving and make it seem like they just weren't a good fit. There are many red flags internally as well. STAY AWAY!
