Pros
Good company benefits and healthcare.
Cons
Three weeks into the role I was expected to cover a senior manager's full workload, thirty years of experience to my two. Interdepartmental complaints surfaced almost immediately and were addressed in open spaces where I could see and hear the conversations. Over the following year, my questions were regularly interrupted or met with visible frustration. Process clarification was interpreted as resistance. Performance reviews were inconsistent. My workload was eventually reduced without clear explanation. When I raised concerns about the working dynamic, I was explicitly encouraged to seek employment elsewhere. HR's position was that the relationship would improve when my performance did. As someone of a different racial background than anyone else at the company, the patience and developmental support extended to others did not feel equally available to me.
