Pros

Great team members, free coffee.

Cons

Lack of requirements. Stuck to old mentality. Very Cheap management. No loyalty toward employees. Awful location, which is actually a warehouse turned into office location in a very industrial area (There was a mouse running in one of company daily stand ups). Very immature president. Bad benefits: no RRSP matching, very low life insurance, minimum health benefits.

Working in a fast paced company culture is not for everyone. Especially when you have to execute on a clear strategic vision that’s so clear it is plastered on 1 page, on our walls. We’ve grown over 300% in the last 5 years and this kind of growth is extremely special. Etelesolv has won numerous awards in 2015 for employee engagement, company culture, excellence and growth. These are a direct result of our great employees. We participate in multiple charities, food drives, and regularly hold funded company social activities like soccer, bowling or curling. Our insurance and benefits are above average for a company our size and at the beginning of 2015 we made major coverage enhancements in 2015, these increases were supplemented solely by the company at no additional costs to our employees. In terms of employee loyalty, statistically we are well above the IT industry average and the number of employees who have been with us for more than 5 years has been growing. Through this growth, we value the promotion and training of our people into new roles. As far as the office goes, we wanted to have a large space where we could expand and be creative. We offer free parking, a large cafeteria, free coffee as well as 3,000 foot warehouse converted into our “Disconnect” room. It has a pool table, ping-pong table, poker, dartboard, air-hockey, video games and a fridge filled with beer. So if I was a mouse, I would want in too. (The landlord has been called and the mouse will need to find a new home.) Doors are always open to current and former employees to share their ideas on how we can continue to improve at Etelesolv.

Pros

Great people. Had a great run of growth. Had lots of growth for a while. Was poised to lead.

Cons

Was good for a while but quickly outgrew the presidents abilities. Will continue to suffer under leadership of CEO and president. Anyone else find it funny that all the good reviews came after the honest not so good reviews? Saddest part is business in complete decline and lots of good people may be affected. President is not respected. Within or with customers.

We like receiving challenging reviews like yours. Cimpl is in a leading position and the interest for our product continues to gain momentum and it is receiving very positive reviews from the industry. Yes, we’ve done many changes in the last year, and not everyone agreed with them. They were necessary, it created a work environment that has been more positive and productive for all. As you said, we have good people in this company, they work hard, and they are committed to seeing this company continue to grow. It is interesting to notice that all the bad reviews come from former employees, and good reviews do in fact come from both current and former employees. Your review is not a reflection of the majority. Cimpl (formerly named Etelesolv) has been ranked in the Top Canadian Best Small and Medium Employers every year since its first participation, and it is because current employees love working here, in fact, they are the ones that have ranked us in the top employers. We hope the best for you and your future endeavours.

Disappointing

Pros

Company seemed to have a lot of potential and was growing. Overall vision and product seemed to be great. Office is open, bright and new. Employees actually formed close friendships and were generally very intelligent and hardworking people. Potential to learn quite a bit as with any startup, you will have a wide range of responsibilities that do not fall under your job description. Perks: Free espressos and hosted relatively frequent company outings/events.

Cons

There were no proper processes and channels which is normal in a startup, but they've been around for 15 years...it's important to stay flexible but at a certain point when everything is ad-libbed it affects the productivity of your business. People have to create new solutions for a problem that's occurred before, no knowledge transfer, use informal channels and politicking to raise awareness of and solve problems to get their work done. Very silo'ed departments, disagreements on resources for departments and people not understanding or valuing what the other one does, everybody trying to be top dog. A lot of the day to day seemed to revolve around some individuals making their work look/sound as important as possible...claiming as much credit as possible rather than just executing, and on the flip side of the same coin, passing the blame was a common pastime. It was all about appearances. A lot of the image of prosperity and growth seemed to be a sham as the financial state turned out to be bleak. Tenure seems to be the only logic for employees to receive promotions and raises. Weak performers do not have to be worried about job security as long as they joined early enough. Salary was below market average, employees had to pay for health benefits, no RRSP contribution, no bonuses, location is extremely far from central Montreal.

We appreciate your honest review of your time with us. Communication in a company is a balancing act, and when you are growing at a fast pace (we’ve grown 300% in the last 5 years), it requires even more adjustments. In fact, we’ve recently made many organizational changes in order to address many of the items you listed in your review. We have experienced great improvements and look forward to continually looking to better ourselves as a company. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
