You do NOT want to (try to) sell here

Pros

Product is robust and scaleable and the SA's are knowledgable and great to work with.

Cons

Sales & executive leadership are convinced that their processes and product is far better than it is. The level of effort involved in getting anything proposed, let alone sold, is absolutely crazy. And when you do actually close deals, your commissions are paid out out over 6 months (or more). After 20 years in business the company has yet to invest in the sales process, key audio / metadata integrations, sales training or marketing and that's why they're being crushed by inferior products built by companies who know how to sell.

Rotting From the Head

Pros

Incredibly talented and dedicated individual contributors. Powerful technology.

Cons

Toxic leadership, from top down. CallMiner once had an amazing culture that inspired passion and fed the energy of an incredible group of individuals. In recent years, under the leadership of Paul Bernard, they have elevated unqualified persons to leadership positions while stifling opportunities/voices of the most talented employees. If you want to be successful here, shut up, do what you're told and never ask for what you or the customers deserve. There is no work life balance. Every task at CallMiner is a fire drill that can't wait for you to finish dinner with your family or take a bathroom break. The CEO's desperation to reach that unicorn status is a cancer on what was an unstoppable team. Instead they whither on the vine while hobbling employing career paths for their own gains. Again, shortsighted decision making by leadership is also causing product quality and service to suffer. This makes being on the front line with customers even harder. You can't help the customers, and can't be successful in your position.

Great on the Surface

Pros

Collaborative team, interesting technology and company growth on the horizon.

Cons

The company promotes work life balance, a sense of flexibility and community on the surface. While it seems open and welcoming at first glance, they are oddly rigid and old fashioned in some of their business processes and employee benefits. They intentionally leave company policy vague and slap employees on the wrist. When employees ask for clarification and how to correct behavior in the future, they do not give a direct answer. This type of practice makes it impossible for employees to be successful and is the polar opposite of the values on which the organization "prides" itself.
