Pros

As of a few months ago I may have been writing a different review. Recently there's been a turnover on key senior level management positions. My faith in that leadership is the strongest it has ever been. The knowledge and experience these leaders bring to our company is absolutely invaluable and will bring about true improvements and change. The work environment is extremely collaborative and creative. The hours are great and the company really cares about a work life balance especially when dealing with children. Most of the salty reviews are from employees that were let go because of business reasons. The retail environment is changing and the population is aging, changing the buying dynamic. This company needs to continue to change to keep up with it. So hop on board or get lost in the shuffle.

Cons

A lot of legacy employees can be pretty bitter or hesitant to change. Some departments run differently than others so you can have extremely happy and extremely miserable people all in the same building.

Toxic Management

Pros

Your co-workers are generally nice, except for the managers who will stab you in the back on their way to the top of the heap.

Cons

Top heavy management with high salaries. People in charge of divisions haven't a clue about their products or their customers. Decisions are made without researching the market, focus groups or trends. The two pattern companies, Simplicity and McCall are being run by people who don't have experience working in fashion company, let alone a pattern business. There is no understanding about how a fashion line is developed and what drives the customer to make their purchase. Instead of looking to the future of the pattern business, they are just propping up and an old outdated business model. Creativity is ignored, free thinking is ignored, thinking out of the box is ignored. The top level has enormous salaries and to keep the salaries and bonuses on-going, people are eliminated according to their salaries-experience and knowledge does not matter. Age and salary is your gateway to unemployment with this company. This company is trying to prop up the bottom line via acquisitions and not concentrating on how to improve the core products. This is a company that is reactive not proactive, it's not about how can we improve and look to the future, it's about how we can cut costs. Low Margins and Cheap products. Take a look at the nose dive of a stock performance over the past two years.

Thank you for your feedback! The employees who joined our company as part of the McCall Pattern Company and Simplicity Creative Group acquisitions do have a vast knowledge of the fashion industry that is untouchable. While our management team has had to make difficult business decisions, we value the knowledge and experience that each of those employees has brought with them. We are sorry that your experience with our company doesn’t align with our gratitude to these employees. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

You get free Starbucks coffee.

Cons

Take at look at the poor company’s performance it says everything. Management lacks the dynamic backgrounds to understand the issues, relate to staff, create process and train. Expectation is to work fifty hours every week at every level.
