      Difficult Place to Work if you Actually Believe in the Mission

      The mission- asset building for low to moderate Americans is something I ALWAYS stood behind. Opportunity to meet very intelligent, dedicated professionals. Downtown DC location is prime. Benefits

      Cons

      EVERYTHING ELSE! The culture there is AWFUL. Everyone wants to be a manager, and if you're nice to the President, you will be. Most of the worker bees are treated as dispensable. A lot of back handed, closed door conversations going on (I went through multiple PERSONAL reorganizations in less than 3 years). Chastised for not attending "Office Happy Hours"

      The founder and some of the staff were really nice

      Cons

      Could care less about you or your other commitments in life. Espouses work/life balance but doesn't really believe in following through. If you don't devote your time 100% (even weekends) to the job, you aren't considered a star. High burn-out rate.

      Pros

      CFED collaborates with other partners in the field of Asset Building. CFED hasn't uncovered anything in the field that can't be discerned by an average middle school child. Some people are poor and unable to save money. Duh!

      Cons

      What CFED lacks in purpose it more than compensates for, by fostering an exclusive environment that makes matriculation next to impossible. Only a select group of employees last more than five years at CFED and that achievement is challenged by arbitrary standards that have next to nothing to do with competence or knowledge. Zero is the only number that adequately represents work life balance at CFED.
