Base salary is above average

Cons

Leadership operates with clear favouritism to a small number of reps. Quotas are misaligned with market conditions (most of the company does not hit 80%). Management leans heavily on fake promotional campaigns and deadline-driven sales tactics, which feel overly aggressive toward prospects. Expiry dates and “limited-time” offers are frequently extended or revisited, which reduces trust during the sales process. Pricing inconsistencies create challenges for channel relationships, as direct deals are almost always discounted aggressively enough to compete against installation partners, leading to ongoing friction within the partner network.

Pros

ButterflyMX has one of the strongest leadership teams I’ve worked with — experienced, visionary, and highly effective at executing strategy. The product is best-in-class and continues to lead the market in innovation. The company is nimble and open to change, which creates exciting opportunities to contribute and grow. The channel team has an especially positive, collaborative culture. Most employees have been here for years, which says a lot to me about employee satisfaction.

Cons

As with any fast-growing company, there are some startup and growing pains. Processes aren’t always perfect, and sometimes things move quickly without all the structure in place — but leadership is aware and actively working to improve.

Pros

You’ll work with some of the most genuine and engaging people here. They’re smart not only in their respective fields, but also in other areas outside of work — and that diversity of thought is both energizing to work with and contributes to the company’s success. The product is solid and evolving in exciting directions as well, and the combination of SaaS and hardware make for interesting opportunities.

Cons

- Management seems overwhelmed — too many priorities means things don’t get done, and communication about those priorities is muddled so there seems to be lots of wasted effort on projects. - There’s been a fairly high amount of involuntary turnover not related to economic concerns. This begs the question: are the wrong people being hired, or are people not being supported with tools/resources they need to succeed? In addition, there seem to be terminations for very little cause, so your colleagues are here today gone the next, which has had a significant negative impact on company culture.

To address your concerns: Although we are scaling and we’ve got a lot of moving parts, our leaders have clear objectives and do their best to focus their time where it is most needed. In terms of involuntary turnover, we do our best to hire the right talent for our organization and equip them with the tools and resources to succeed in their role. If we run into a situation where an employee is struggling in their role due to performance, we ensure that we’re supporting the employee, setting clear expectations, and giving them the opportunity to improve. We take parting ways with employees very seriously so there we take all factors and perspectives into consideration before making decisions about someone’s employment. Our hope is that everyone on the team succeeds so we do everything we can to enable that.
