Pros

People are welcoming, good mission

Cons

Lots of turnover. Management needs to hire competent people who understand how a nonprofit works, and that have the formal education for the position they hold.

Pros

Good pay, flexible schedule, well-intentioned coworkers

Cons

The now former supervisor of the Mental Health Team (Holding Hope) caused so much dysfunction and harm to this incredibly needed program. She is the main reason I left this organization. Constant gaslighting, poor communication, and straight up abuse of power. She would "volunteer" our team and specific team members for things we did not ask to be signed up for, continuously was late to 1:1 check-ins that SHE herself would schedule, and dismiss whatever feedback the team had for her. She would deliberately go AGAINST what CCWA (The state program that funded Holding Hope) and their deliverables as she had beef with the clinical supervisors, which made the work for our team feel IMPOSSIBLE. Do we listen to M.S? or our clinical staff? She made it seem like she was very close-knit with management, so myself and the team were too afraid to speak out against her concerned our jobs would either be jeopardized, or she would come back with more awful treatment knowing we tried to go above her. HR is not trustworthy as they seem to spread any concerns you bring up to them to other staff, thus making it no where safe for you to turn to hold people accountable within the org. And when management does step in? It feels very performative most times instead of providing a space for healing and support from harm done. Also, no disciplinary action is ever taken. But thank God M.S. was finally let go after enough complaints came in about her.
