Pros

+ kind, mission-driven colleagues working on the ground

Cons

- a toxic place to work -leadership and mid-level management are secretive, gossipy and duplicitous. - constant turnover of talent-- good people are consistently forced out for personal/political reasons, and hiring and firings are random. - for non-technical jobs, compensation is below market rate, even for ed tech. Customer Success/Account Managers/inside sales are all at least 10k below what they should be. - similarly, performance bonuses are laughably small and practically unattainable. - Hired for an entry-level position? Be prepared to stay there for the indefinite future, regardless of your skills, contributions, or what your manager tells you. - Inconsistent expectations and values across teams. Some teams are mercilessly micro-managed while others are given more flexibility to deliver results. Some people can order expensive, unnecessary equipment, others are penalized for requesting basic tools. - There are a host of other issues: the physical office itself is disgusting and falling apart, the org offers very few perks that are otherwise standard for tech, snacks are garbage, etc, but these factors are all secondary to the toxic culture.

Pros

You get to work with a lot of kind, talented people who really care about improving the way the world learns. Every team has friendly people and it's easy to get to know each other in the office. We have a lot of satisfied customers from all over the country.

Cons

- A lot of leadership is inexperienced - a handful of amazing people left this year due to this - There's a lot of talking, but not doing (i.e. promotions, raises, the unraveling of Concur) - Located in a sketchy neighborhood in SOMA, building is in no way up to code - Some of the employees that have been here longer than others don't get the recognition they deserve (i.e. insultingly low raises, little career growth) - It's hard to make complete a customer call without being interrupted by others in the office - Some people consistently have to work long hours because no one else helps them with their workload - HR team doesn't know what we need

Cons

-Secretive leadership -BB used to be a company of principles and collaboration (that is no longer the case) -Unexperienced management -most employees are looking for other employment opportunities as the company, work and ethics are on a downward trajectory
