Good Team, Nice People

Pros

The team here is honestly one of my favorite things. The work space is pretty collaborative and everyone works together to solve problems. There's been a recent lean into learning and using AI tools and also a focus on improving training and helping people meet career goals over time.

Cons

I mean the challenge is that I feel like the CEO means well but sometimes comes across as abrupt. He's the type of person that expects everyone to take charge of a project or workflow in their own way.

Engineering Layoffs

Pros

Out of nowhere, every engineer got a huge raise a few months before... [next slide, please]...

Cons

Laying off the entire domestic engineering team, to outsource to India, or Turkey or something. Their platform could be so much more, but it seems like all the Product people and managers were stuck in the late 1990s a couple years ago and since, well, the early 2000s. No UX people in the company, no Product people who seemed to ever even use apps or contemporary software of any kind, and it seemed new features came from antiquated, tech-challenged boomer sales people. It was like Web 1.0 over there.

Unfortunate

Pros

Got to know and work with several skilled, dedicated, equally defeated colleagues who helped keep me sane on this sinking ship

Cons

No valuing of skill or hard work, no raises for years, a continually broken platform to sell and maintain, bizarre promotions across departments putting inept management and directors in place, reliance on a few underpaid employees to provide innovation and progress for the entire org
