I worked at Autodesk full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Great culture. Most people I worked with were smart, kind and loved what they did
    - Solid compensation and benefits
    - For the most part, interesting and challenging work
    - Constant effort to improve though yearly survey and employee comittees

    Cons

    - Massive layoff every 2 years. Sometimes valuable team members would be cut with no explanation
    - Sometimes, there is too much focus on consensus. Decisions can take a long time to be made

    Advice to Management

Overall, keep being awesome and respectful. More transparency would help, especially around the promotion process and layoffs

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Autodesk full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice office, good benefits and flexible working hours.

    Cons

    No technical direction.
A lot of new changes and no one knows the direction.
The new CEO laid off 1200 employees. He looks at employees as numbers not people.

    Advice to Management

Get technical direction not managers that don't know how to communicate.

I worked at Autodesk (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    wages and benefits
money opens the potential to achieve great things

    Cons

Assassin politics. Don't make the mistake to believe in the employee leadership program. Don't ever address conflict directly. Be courteous and choose who provided your 360 if possible. These are your marks to survive the next layoff round.
At high level all they care is the stock and rounds of layoffs including super seniors show they don't need to understand their own IP to sell it. Autodesk roll its business over its own employees.

    Advice to Management

Handing nice exit packages will only slow down the laid off people for a time. In time they all talk and most are bitter because they would have given their shirt for you. I wonder how much Forbes is paid to get your name on the list of the top employer. I am still angry today. You convinced me to work for you with passion yet laying me off was business as usual. You do not deserve your employees.

    -relaxed work environment
    -good training resources

    - queer friendly

    Cons

    - lack of imagination
    - moves very slowly in markets

    Advice to Management

in general immediate managers are fair to employees. Recent massive layoffs aren't winning any points.

    Pros

They are very flexible - me and several co-workers are exclusive remote employees. Compensation is also quite high.

    Cons

Work isn't particularly interesting. Autodesk likes to aquire companies, rather than doing something innovative themselves.
