I worked at AArete full-time for more than a year

    Pros

+ great fun culture, a lot leaders are relatively younger and really embody the culture +sold benefits + pay is about what you would expect for competitors but could definitely be better + 20 days of PTO + lots of opportunity to make an impression early and often + pretty flexible on where you live at every level + portions of senior management( particularly the younger ones) are extremely bright, energetic, and forward thinking + very forward thinking in the company organization structure (ESOP)

    Cons

+ Get the feeling that they say yes to any project + dress code outdated + Some projects are not appealing and would be outsourced at any other firm + hearing that they forced employees to take pto during corona + firm is sort of losing its culture because they grew way too quickly + very heavy reliance on one or two clients

I have been working at AArete full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Awesome leadership on CODE team (higher-ups have an extensive history of programming experience and understand new technologies) - Great benefits - Work environment - Colleagues are friendly (hang out with some outside of work/consider life-long friends) - Work-life balance is unbelievable

    Cons

    - Dress code for internal office is outdated, I wear what I want (and no one says anything) but others have displayed hesitance to follow suit since it is not in line with company policy - Some people in the office (a very select few) are a bit too much of a 'bro/broette' - I would not have given an offer to all of the interns this summer (2019)

I have been working at AArete full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great company overall , proud to work here, and willing to work for a salary below market share because of culture, great team and good leadership. Pros: 1. Culture 2. Benefits (including employee owned) 3. Excellent promotional opportunities 4. Great co-workers 5. Leadership that truly cares 6. Excellent foundation provided by great organizational support teams and leadership (HR, IT, Advanced Analytics Team, Marketing, Facilities Support, Accounting) 7. Company sponsored events 8. Company and career growth 9 Locations 10. Lunch rooms well stocked up with snacks and drinks 11. Learning opportunities

    Cons

    1. Top leadership driven heavily by growth and profit, this drive leads them into occasional rushed and weak decisions 2. Lack of experience with 1/3 of leadership team, several of them have been promoted too fast based on years with organization and/or the perceived ability to sell business, as a result several are lacking experience, industry knowledge and leadership skills required for their level 3. Salaries are on the lower end

I worked at AArete full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very professional environment, but easy going when the time is right. Great training, decent benefits, decent pay (especially if you're a consultant apparently). The CEO/CFO is always in the office and they're pretty down to Earth and fair. Free snacks, drinks, free alcohol (wine sometimes, beer, white claw). Regular training with catered lunches. Strong presence in the healthcare consulting market. Fun happy hours and company events/outings. Very inclusive and inviting environment to all employees. Very understanding supervisors and managers. While there is a hierarchy at AArete, good work is rewarded fairly regardless of role and the hierarchy does not break down any communication regardless of one's role. They have little to no requirements for promotions aside from earning it. Regardless of age and prior experience, if you've earned the promotion you will receive it. Bonuses are regularly paid and the criteria for earning your bonus is clear. They are properly positioned to weather a downturn or recession in the US Economy/World Economy as AArete is a leader in non-labor cost reduction and has been doing so for almost a decade even in the economic boom we exist in at the time of this review. They're growing fast, and at pace with the growth of their clientele. Great office location with 2 discounted gyms on campus. Lots of satellite offices around the country. They regularly advance your salary, often times without you even asking. Amazing internship program, which helps foster the environment even more. ESOP program is pretty nice. Smart and experienced upper management and supervisory staff. They have tasty fruit snacks.

    Cons

Every Friday morning the Asiago bagels go fast, so that kinda sucks. If you're going into a technology role/data science role you may be underpaid/low balled until you fight for it or have another offer in hand to counter. (They will likely match it) Less flexible about working from home than most other tech roles. Almost every tech role at the company is meant to support the Consultants. Yet, there are a couple teams on the consultant side that work from home regularly, often times more than once a week. So I never understood why the CODE team couldn't do the same if we were there to support the one's working from home...

I have been working at AArete full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with. Fun and young environment.

    Cons

AArete sells itself as a management consulting firm that focuses on data analytics but it’s not anything close to that. AArete has sold mostly exclusively staff augmentation projects with extremely aggressive SOWs. Even after a particularly rough time and having a company wide debrief with directors and MDs, it looks like there haven’t been any lessons learned and they continue to sell projects that none of the staff is interested in. The CEO continues to bark at us about how we’re in a “war on talent” but only proves to be tone deaf. Lastly talking about ESOP which it has been made clear there is very little interest in it. Oh and there’s a ton of nepotism here.

I have been working at AArete full-time for more than a year

    Pros

AArete presents a fast-paced, collaborative environment where employee's opinions are heard and valued. As a small company, AArete's senior leadership does a fantastic job of understanding how to support their employees while encouraging them to work harder and smarter each day. AArete's smaller size also presents ample opportunity for employees of all levels to be involved in growing the business and improving the company's brand name. AArete is an exciting place to build a career.

    Cons

The fast-paced nature of consulting in general combined with the flexibility needed to thrive at a small company means consultants often don't specialize or become experts in one area until they climb high enough on the food chain. This is mainly a product of project staffing and management does a good job overall of staffing projects according to the strengths of their consultant base.

I have been working at AArete full-time for less than a year

    Pros

AArete is a growing firm in Chicago with clients all over the country and now reaching into international grounds. Given that the company is a little over 11 years old, the growth has been exponential and I am excited to be a part of it. With such a young firm, there are growth opportunities not only for the company but for the employees as well. As a consultant, you receive more autonomy on a project than with the Big 4 or other consulting firms. The opportunity to jump on different projects is appealing as well, which includes: healthcare, transportation, retail, etc. As long as you have vigor and grit, AArete will happily reward you as an employee with competitive benefits/PTO, merit/bonuses increases at the end of the year, and more responsibility with the client. The biggest pro, I will say, is the company culture, which instills individuality in the work place, but emphasizes a community of togetherness as well. All of this is to say, we have a lot of fun at AArete! Work hard play hard.

    Cons

As a young firm, we sell a lot of work that will be new to each of us. There's a "learn as you go" mentality, but with current leadership, this has not been an issue.
