    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at VIPKid in August 2017.

    Interview

The interview process took about two weeks for me, but it can definitely be competed in a shorter amount of time. I just took my time to really practice the lessons and do some research about the interview process on youtube. The initial screening is filling out some information about your background. You need a bachelors degree and 1 year of teaching experience. The next step is to take a demo interview, where you record yourself doing a short lesson. My video was about 6 mins long. I just recommend looking over the powerpoint and practicing a few times and recoding yourself first. It's good to feel confident going into it. After a couple of hours I received an email that I passing that, than I was asked to sign up for a mock interview. I was really nervous and practiced and watched so many youtube videos on the topic (letter x and my culture) in preparation for my mock interview. I probably spent around 3-4 hours practicing for this mock interview. During the mock interview, I had a lady named Diane interview me. She was really nice and made me feel comfortable going into this mock interview. Her feedback was super helpful and gave me a lot of great recommendations. I am a teacher but this form of teaching is completely new to me so it gave me some greater insight on how to improve for the future. I thought my interview went good, i just went over the time. I definitely recommend practicing in front of someone so you can get a good idea of the timing. About 8 hours later I received an email saying I was offered a position. I was so surprised that i did not need to do a mock 2. So now i am in the process of creating my bio and intro video and hopefully will get started next week. I am very excited to start teaching!
