      Animator Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at tombola in Mar 2026

      Interview

The team were super transparent about the whole process from start to finish. Had an initial call with the lady who was hiring just to set expectations about salary (though they didn't actually specify what their budget was for the role when I asked, and just wanted to know my expectations), my overall experience etc, then was invited to do a take home task to demonstrate my skills. I spent around 5 hours on the take home task, the interview its self was quite relaxed but did feel like the team were trying to be more formal than they perhaps wanted to be. I felt like it went really well and we discussed how my skills would perfectly fit the role. I was then rejected a week later with no explanation or feedback, just a generic 'someone else was better' template, which I feel is quite insensitive after investing so much of my time into a take home task. I have pushed for feedback but had no reply as of a week later. I do suspect that their 'remote' role was actually not remote and they went with someone more local.
