      Interview

I had a screening call with a recruiter and then a Zoom call with HR. After that I went into the office for interviews, which took about 4 hours. I met with 3 people and was asked to complete a challenge activity. The challenge took 1 hour and wasn't too bad. I also had lunch with some of the other people in the office which was nice. The office was a little quiet but everyone was friendly.

      Interview

I noped out after the initial phone screening due to the company having enough red flags to start their own flag football team. But a few things to note for prospective hires: - The company is low hybrid, not remote (they claim remote on a lot of their collateral but my impression is that it's a pretty heavily micro managed office, high in-office demand, high social demand) - Work-life balance appears to be low, especially relative to compensation - On to the interview process; they have a very fixed deadline to hire on as a "cohort" and are not flexible to other commitments. It was a quick turn around with the expectation you'll be able to show up in-office for "bootcamp" in a couple weeks. Could be a plus for someone who needs a job immediately - Lots of emphasis on "grit" and being a self-started and the usual corporate jargon. Current and future employees are likely to be overworked and under compensated - BIGGEST RED FLAGS; the interview process is both lengthy and hurried. Entails a "project" component which, as others have noted, appears to take 8-12 hours. There is also a "mock office day" (are we kids on career day? I would hope anyone interviewing has attended a 9-5 by now) which is a full 8 hrs. Both of these obligations are unpaid with no guaratee of a job offer. I'm personally unwilling to work for free and I have an ethical problem with companies expecting this of jobseekers, so I turned it down But best luck to anyone going forward! Locally, I know this company has high turnover and issues with leadership, but it's also at a good growth stage with lots of opportunity if you're the right fit for this sort of culture

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your phone screen with commonFont. We are upfront with candidates both about our hybrid work environment and the time commitment to interview. However, the time commitment is far less than you detail. After two 30-minute calls, our interview process ends with a half-day in our office (~4hrs) which includes a 1-hr challenge activity. We feel that spending this time together in-person is critical for making an informed hiring decision, for both cF and candidates. We do hire folks in cohorts - we’ve found that folks have the best experience when they have others going through onboarding alongside them. Thank you again for your feedback.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at commonFont (Bozeman, MT) in Oct 2023

      Interview

It was very long and drawn out, starting with a phone screening then followed by in-person interviews with two of their team members. After that there was a 24-hour test and then a half day of interviews and then a call with the Vice President. Overall it took about 2 months.
