      SMB Account Executive Interview

      Jun 27, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Tempe, AZ
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ZipRecruiter (Tempe, AZ)

      Interview

The interview process consisted of a phone call with the Recruiter, a sales quiz another phone call with a manager, and then a in person interview with 2 managers. The phone calls and communication with the Recruiter was horrible, but the in person interview was great. I've never had an interview where I felt so comfortable, it was more a conversation than a intense interview. They asked more in depth questions but it was a great experience itself.

      SMB Account Executive Interview

      Sep 14, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ZipRecruiter in Sep 2016

      Interview

Was contacted by an outside recruiter who told me about the position, did a pre-screen interview and sent me link to apply. Had a 1:1 pre-screen phone interview with HR that took 30 minutes which went smoothly and after passing was sent an online personality assessment. The coordinator from ZipRecruiter called me a few hours later to tell me I passed the assessment and to schedule a 1:1 phone interview with the sales manager. The sales manager was very direct and did not give me the opportunity to clarify one of my answers and told me what my answer meant to him - without letting me elaborate or say what I meant. It was really frustrating. He also pointed out that he's interviewed other candidates who came from the company I previously worked at and said "what's going on over there I hear that place is all drama." It didn't sound like he believed me when I said that was not something I involved myself in, I'm not the type of person who cares about the workplace gossip. I go to work, get my job done, of course have fun while doing it but at the end of the day go home and don't care to invest in my co-workers issues/drama/etc... However, he did invited me to come for an in-person interview later that day and interview with him and the other sales managers. The in-person interview was with 4 sales managers, 2 managers at a time, 1 manager being on video chat and 1 in person for 30 minute time blocks and then they would switch. The first round was with the manager who interviewed me over the phone and the questions I was asked seemed more related to my previous company, including specific names of employees I worked with or under because they knew some of the employees and had relationships with them. They wanted to know what I thought they would say about me and if they were to call (specific name of employee/manager/SVP) if what I said was true would they verify it or would they say anything else? If we call your SVP and manager and ask how competitive you are or what ranking you were or how many deals you closed what will they say? Will they verify that? It seemed like they questioned everything I was saying and did not believe what I was saying to be true. This did not feel like a typical interview atmosphere. I had a difficult time understanding why my integrity, ethics and honesty were in question during the first section of the interview - as I was telling the truth and being myself with nothing to hide. The second portion of the interview went better with the 2 other sales managers who asked me questions that I believe were more relevant and standard interview questions to assess how I handle situations and what the outcomes were with specific examples. I expressed my desire to work for a company with the opportunity for growth and advancement as I do not want a "job" or to be "stuck" in one role. I asked if they offer training classes on an ongoing basis to continue the growth and success of the sales team and they told me they did. After the interviews I was asked to fill out an application form and I would hear back from them.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tempe, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ZipRecruiter (Tempe, AZ) in Mar 2016

      Interview

3 phone interviews took 3 days, 2 separate in person interviews same day. The first 3 phone interviews were as scheduled. Tempe and California based offices not on the same page. Tempe coordinator never confirmed interview. I called the next day to confirm my interview for that day and they said that no one knew I was coming but just to get there now. In person interviews went well but they have a personality test they said I failed. I've been a top producer in the hardest sales environments for years now, so I think they put WAY to much stock in that test. They said they would call me in the next 2 days to let me know if I got the position or not. 2 weeks later I got an email.
