I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at YipitData (New York, NY) in May 2022
Interview
I did two rounds plus a take-home test. The first round interview was approximately a half hour with the manager of the team. This was followed by a take-home assessment. The final round was a 3 interview broken into 3 segments. One of the segments. The first segment was a video call with a group of employees. It was a little overwhelming for me and I'm not necessarily a fan of that interview style. In the second segment, I met with the senior engineer on the team and took her through my solution. The third segment was pair programming where I built out further functionality into my take-home assessment.

Question 1
Take me through your solution to the take-home assessment. What are you looking for in your next role?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at YipitData in Dec 2022
Interview
Interview consisted of an initial screening, another screening with one of the engineering directors, a take home assignment and a final round that had a pair programming interview and a behavioral interview. The whole process took around 4 weeks but this was due to my availability and could be quicker if needed. Overall, the process was pretty positive. Communication was great all around, interviewers were all nice and great to speak to. The recruiter also made sure I knew what to expect for each round and was quick to respond to any questions. The process was a bit lengthy but that is to be expected for similar SWE roles.

Question 1
What is one thing you would change about you previous job ?
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at YipitData (New York, NY) in May 2022
Interview
I worked with a recruiter who was fantastic. Communication was quick - everyone was very responsive. The interview process is a bit lengthy, but ran smoothly. The process was:
1. Initial call with hiring manager
2. Take home assignment
3. Virtual on-site - one interview to discuss the take home project, another pair programming interview, and a final round of behavior questions. All told, about 4 hours.
4. Reference checks
5. Offer
Ultimately I declined the offer because joining a start up at this time feels a bit risky. I also got the feeling that people here are stretched pretty thin. Everyone I spoke to was very nice, though.

Question 1
How would you optimize the take home project? Talking through trade offs. Adding onto the functionality during a pairing session.
