I currently manage a sales team in the industry. I went for a Sales Manager role that claimed a $130k-$150k salary. I went in for the interview today and they shuffled myself and several other people into a time share presentation room in one of their hotels. They made us wait then showed us a generic video of the company that gave no practical information. The people in the group interview were there for Sales and Sales Manager roles, but we were told they were "pipelining" people for the Sales Manager role as Sales people could transition into that role in a matter of months. So the role advertised isn't even open or available! We were meant to go into another room for one-on-one interviews but the more senior individuals who were meant to interview us were too busy so they asked for us to arrange phone calls or to come in again. I prepared for this and treated it as a normal interview but I felt the process was completely misleading and dishonest. I left after 10 minutes and vented outside with other candidates about how unprofessional the process was.

With a room full of a dozen other unsuspecting sales manager candidates, we were herded in as a group and given the pitch. Minimum wage along with a commission structure. No management opportunities for at least 6 months and was told we would be competing with existing staff. Work every weekend. Totally humiliating experience. I drove in from the South Bay for this treatment.
