I had previously interviewed for a similar role with Wolt a couple of years ago, making it to the final rounds and even completing a take-home task for the same role. Unfortunately, no offer materialized at that time.
Fast forward to the present, the same role became available again, and I was approached by the same people. Excitedly, I went through an interview with a key person, followed by a feedback session with the hiring manager. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with strong emphasis on my competence and experience.
However, things took an unexpected turn when the stakeholders suggested hiring me as a short-term contractor instead of a full-time employee. This caught me off guard, as it wasn't mentioned earlier in the process. It became apparent that there was a deliberate strategy of veiling information until the final stages.
Upon expressing my interest in a full-time position and providing a counter proposal, Wolt changed their stance. They decided to put the hiring process on hold, and would reopen it, yet suggesting that I explore other opportunities as their process would involve multiple interviews and redoing the task from scratch which would take longer.
This role has recently reopened as a full-time one.
I hope candidates currently going through the interview process with Wolt will have a smoother and transparent experience.
