I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Wise (Tallinn) in Aug 2016
Interview
6 rounds of interviews:
1. Call with company hr.
2. Online coding test. There were multiple theory questions (mostly about frontend) and trivial practical coding task (algorithm).
3. Technical interview.
4. Product interview.
5. Technical interview.
6. CEO/CIO interview.
My coding skills, technical knowledge and experience hasn't been checked ever.
The only thing I was asked on all interviews - Why do you want to work with us? Even on technical interviews.
Seriously, 70% of any interview is spent on asking this question, and other 30% - on asking if you fit their working culture.
So ideal candidate is the person who is the master in a*s licking.
If you try their product or read their technical blog you will see that their working culture corresponds to interviewing process - low quality of the product and lack of serious technical experience.
The only positive moment in all interviews was a product interview. That was really fun to solve product issues with the help of their product specialist.
After the 6th interview I was rejected with the reason "the answer's you gave did not demonstrate an deep level of knowledge".
I applied online. I interviewed at Wise (London, England) in May 2026
Interview
I had a worst experience with WISE of my entire job career. I applied through the company career page and I received a formal interview call as a screening with the recruiter. I joined the meeting as per the schedule and the recruiter didn't even come on time. She joined the meeting after some time then the original time. Even after joining she didn't even say a single word and started questioning me, I was expecting a brief intro from her and ME. But she didn't do that. As soon as I started answering the question she started her new topic of questions, she didn't wait for me to complete my answer. The worst nightmare for me because being on that 30 min call was horrible and this made me feel even if they offer me the job, I will not take it because of seeing what type of persons do they hire and How come they managed to get a place in WISE.
4 stages, recruiter call, 30 mins coding interview, 120 mins tech interview (system design and coding stage) with 2 engineers, 30 mins product interview, final interview with 2 managers/ lead. The process is about one month
5 steps of interview, not hard. Mostly same questions given here are asked. I dropped after 4th "Product" interview. They start deep dive on the system design before I finish mine.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
2nd Step Technical: Implement a rate limiter for multiple services.
3rd Step System Design: Design a system where 24h money transfers are aggregated and shown on a public dashboard. (I used Flink but they asked me not to use any framework)
4th Step Product: - Tell me about a production bug that you introduced and how did you handle it?
- Were in a case where you had to convince a product manager about not implementing a feature?
