I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Wholesail in Aug 2024
Interview
The role is listed as entry-level, but the entire process suggests you might end up working for a company with manual processes that an entry-level salary may not justify. The interview process involved several rounds:
Initial Contact: The recruiter seemed supportive at first but provided limited communication and support as the process continued.
Hiring Manager: This round focused more on making assumptions about my work history rather than understanding my skills and fit for the role. The questions asked were not relevant to the actual responsibilities of the position, which seemed more aligned with personal assistance for customer success rather than the role's stated duties.
Customer Success Leadership: This round was particularly challenging. The interviewer seemed distracted, with background noise and a lack of engagement with my responses. The questions asked did not relate to my skills or the role's requirements. Instead, I was questioned about information that had already been discussed in previous rounds, which took up most of the interview time, leaving me with only one opportunity to ask a question.
Assignment Review: The assignment involved updating a document based on feedback. I was told my bullet points were confusing, despite the assignment mentioning a live discussion, which was also communicated by the hiring manager. During this session, I was left in silence to make updates without clear direction. Once the update was made, there was further confusion as to whether the role reported to the hiring manager or another individual, as the feedback seemed contradictory.
Overall, the process left me with concerns about the working environment and whether it would be a positive experience. I decided to withdraw my candidacy after the final round.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me what you understand about how our product works.
During the interview process, I encountered significant scheduling challenges with my interviewer. On both scheduled occasions, they either arrived late or failed to attend entirely. Despite numerous attempts to reschedule, they consistently did not honor the agreed-upon times, resulting in a considerable waste of my time.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Wholesail (New York, NY) in Sep 2023
Interview
My experience interviewing at Wholesail was a rollercoaster of emotions that ultimately left me feeling disappointed. The interview process spanned three weeks and encompassed five rounds of interviews, including a mock assessment and a meeting with the founder. Initially, things seemed promising as I received positive feedback on my performance, particularly during a retention scenario where I went the extra mile by creating a presentation deck that was well received. However, my excitement quickly vanished when I reached out to my recruiter for updates and received unexpected news. The recruiter told me that the Wholesail team decided not to move forward with my candidacy because I had my "interview hat" on... throughout the interview process... This update left me confused, as I had always believed in presenting my best self during interviews. I put in hours of preparation, research, including practicing with friends and family to ensure I went above and beyond. To learn that my professionalism and dedication were perceived negatively was disheartening, to say the least. In retrospect, I am now grateful that I did not secure the position at Wholesail. I firmly believe that professionalism should be celebrated and encouraged in any workplace (it is a job interview, after all, not a social event) and it is a bummer to think that it was viewed as a negative trait. I have faith that I will find a work environment where my dedication and commitment are valued and appreciated as essential assets to the team.
