Wesper AI/ML Engineer interview questions

After applying online, I got selected for an intro call. The interviewer asked a few questions and I asked some as well. Lasted about 10 minutes long. After that got a rejection email saying there was another qualified applicant for the role. Strange that they would reject me after such a short call, after having short listed me for the introduction. Could it be that I got rejected based on my appearance (religiously oriented)? I am left wondering by the generic rejection.
