I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Wells, Canning & Associates (Rochester, NY) in Oct 2009
Interview
I applied online and was ask to come in for an interview in about a week.
the first interview was a skills test. it basically tested your excel skill and your writing skill (more of trying to figure out your reasoning and thinking).
then i went on to talk to two people in the firm. One of them asked very simple behavioral questions. the second person, to my suprise, was actually the top consultant or president of the firm. She was really nice and open to talk. She told me in detail how the position was, how it would grow in the future and the main responsibilities of the position. She also tested my financial skills, asking question about how to price bond, how the interst rate affects the bond price etc. I got confused sometime but she was very patient to explain everything to me. overall, i though i did all right on the first interview.
then in about 10 days, they contacted me again to set up for a second interview.
this time, it is once again, I met with two people. two different employers from last time. the first one mostly asked technical & financial questions, going into more details of bonds, coupons, differentials etc. To be honest, I don't know much of that and did pretty poor on this section. He was polite and also tried to explain things to me. the second person I met was very friendly, we mainly "chatted" instead of "interviewed". He was asked question about myself, my parents, my background etc.
After this, I sort of had the feeling i might not be able to get the position because I did kind of "screw up" with the technical terms and financial knowledges with the first interviewer.
it took them about 5 to 6 weeks to get back to me in mail to decline me..... i thought it was a bit too long.
