      Lead Analyst Interview

      Feb 8, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I applied in-person. I interviewed at Wayfair

      Interview

The recruiter called after a follow-up email and 10 mins after the scheduled time and didn't even apologize for being late. Started the conversation by asking all about me. Place where alive, interested to move, or looking for a remote opportunity. (All housekeeping questions). Did not discuss anything about the role or the team. This is my second negative experience with the Wayfair recruiters. Previously two recruiters reached out to me on the same role and I discovered that when we hopped on a call(No JD was sent before discussion). The recruiter was so mad at me (and the other recruiter- she was like why are people stepping on each other's toes. and I want to increase my candidate reach now. Lol) when I mentioned that I already talked to someone recently about the same role. She said candidates are so desperate nowadays and they want to talk to all recruiters. I Hope Wayfair can put more effort into choosing the right recruiters and also training them so that they value candidates' time and interest in the opportunity.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Wayfair in Jun 2021

      Interview

The interview was very structured, the recruiter was available at each step of the way, very passionate and responsive. I rate the recruiter very highly! I started off with a online test on Codility. I passed. Then I had a video call with a hiring manager for a lead analyst role in their soon-to-open SF bay area office. Some time later the recruiter told me they had a different role for me and wanted me to meet with a different hiring manager. I then met with this hiring manager. I passed this call with him. Then they sent me a take-home assignment, and wanted me to analysis the data and make a presentation and present in the final round. During the final round I met with several people, one of them was a conversation around some ab-test result and the person asked me to explain the result to her and if I would recommend rolling the test out. One of the other person focused on their people principles. The last one was the presentation where I went over my deck with someone. Overall I would say the interview process was very structured, the purpose of each step was clear, and the recruiter always provide prep materials before each round, and update after each round. The only complaint I have is the entire process took more than 60 days, which to me is a bit too long.

      Question 1

There were several questions around their people principle where they asked me to provide an example. There was also a mock ab-test result where they asked me to interpret the result and recommend if roll-out or not.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Wayfair (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2021

      Interview

More or less a standard interview process. First round was a phone screen, then a director, then a panel of manager type positions. The final round was four different case studies, one being a take home. I personally thought all of the interviews went fairly well - the team was all very smart and knew their stuff - but in the end, I was offered a position lower than the one I applied for and was dinged for things not in the job description (for example, the job was clearly an IC role, but never having direct reports was one of the things mentioned in the feedback). In all honesty, it felt like an incredible waste of time, all things considered, if the expectations were very clearly outside of the job description.
