      Vendor Relations Specialist Interview

      Feb 16, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Wayfair (Boston, MA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

It started with a phone interview with a general recruiter and then moved on to another phone interview with the Supply operations hiring manager. He seemed really nice and was extremely easy to talk to. He told me it went very well after asking me some general interview questions (Tell about yourself, your experience, why Wayfair?, etc). Up until this point, everything was great and I was questioning why other people on glass door were saying how unprofessional the process was. When my onsite interview was scheduled, this is where I began to see where all the other comments are coming from. Of The four individuals I met with, one was very professional. I met with him for the case study which just asked general inventory and business questions. He was the only person I met with that didn’t seem preoccupied and actually gave me the time of day. The other 3 were inattentive, checked their phones, and barely gave me an opportunity to explain myself or elaborate on my resume. The interviewers were highly unprofessional and it seems like this is the norm for emerging companies nowadays. I received an email 3 days later saying that my skills were not in line for this entry level position at Wayfair, even though I have 3 previous years of experience in vendor relations and know that I’m qualified. I’m not one to not blame myself and also am in no way holding negative feelings against Wayfair for not offering me a job, but In this circumstance, due to the other reviews, this company is growing too quickly and is hiring some really jerks for management, most of which are not qualified themselves. Just look at the other reviews and this will become very apparent. Management is unprofessional and Wayfair is definitely not a company I would want to represent as a result. This whole process will take a lot of your time, so I highly recommend saving yourself the trouble and apply to similar, better paying companies in the area. It is apparent to see that they’re at the peak of their growth and their operations are disorganized as a result. By the time you get hired, Wayfair will be on the decline.
