      Finance Apprentice Interview

      Jan 22, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Warner Bros. (London, England) in Jan 2019

      Interview

I interviewed for the Finance EMEA Apprentice at the London HQ. The first stage was to complete an online application asking general questions about you, plus, you had to write a cover letter, answering three questions Warner Bros. stated on the application. I was progressed to the phone interview stage after the deadline of the role passed. This was very general once again and the recruiter was nice and friendly and asked mainly competency based questions. After the phone interview, I was progressed to the final stage which was the assessment centre a few days later. The assessment centre was different from others I have been too. It was much more interactive, enjoyable and relaxed. It was me with a group of six other candidates who attended, We started off by meeting with the team and then having to do an icebreaker where each one of us to introduce ourselves, say why we want to work at WB and what WB character we would want to be and why. This was a fun exercise and really helped to get to know everyone and to calm down any nerves. We then had to do a series of group exercises which consisted of group presentations, speed interviewing and exercises. This was followed by lunch where we met some more people working in the Finance team which was good. After lunch, a shortlist of candidates took place and only 3 of us were chosen to be progressed to the afternoon session. The afternoon session focused more on our numerical and excel skills as we did a test for Excel and a maths test (15 minutes each) followed by two-to-one interviews with the Manager and Director. Once again, this was very relaxed and informal, more like a chat and mainly based on what I would bring to the team, why WB, my achievements and so on. Although, I didn't get the offer in the end, I was encouraged to apply again for any full-time vacancy which was really good hear. Plus, the gave me positive feedback too for any future interviews. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot and met some really great and like-minded people. However, the only negative thing I would say was that HR called me to inform me I didn't get through which just raised false hope. They should just email you instead like everyone else does when you are rejected!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What is your biggest regret? Tell me a time you took initiative. What is your biggest achievement? Why WB? What do you want to achieve from this apprenticeship and what will you bring to the team and WB? Tell me a time where working in a team didn't go to plan and what you did to combat the issue.
