      Data Analyst Interview

      Jun 1, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Veolia

      Interview

The interview process was smooth and seemed promising. I was engaged in detailed discussions about my qualifications and experiences, and I felt confident about my performance throughout the various stages. However, despite my efforts and the positive feedback I received during the interviews, I was ultimately informed that the position had already been filled. What was particularly disappointing was the lack of follow-up communication afterward. I did not receive any further updates or feedback, which left me feeling uncertain about the specific reasons for the decision.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Veolia (Hackensack, NJ) in Jul 2022

      Interview

Endless probing questions followed by endless indecision. Interview process consisted of a virtual interview followed by on-site interview the following week. There were two people at the on-site, hiring manager and another department member. It seemed they were trying hard to get inside my head and were afraid to make a decision. First, they appeared nervous when they asked the following questions: 1. What professional accomplishment are you most proud of? 2. How do you prefer to work -- interacting a lot with other staff members or working alone? 3. Can you deal with mayhem? Question # 3 was asked by the staff member (not the boss). This man's behavior was odd. He came into the interview about 10 minutes after the boss and I had started. Shortly after, an employee knocked on the door and called him out. He returned several minutes later, looked at his phone and stepped out again. He came back and then did the same thing once more several minutes later. When he returned for the final time, he asked question # 3 above. He cast a nervous look at the boss at one point, then he departed and the boss completed the interview with me. Later, I wondered if all this was a staged performance to see if I would get rattled. The boss said he expected to have a decision by the end of the following week. But then the company reopened the requisition to interview more people. I reached out to HR twice over the next 3 weeks and was told a decision hadn’t been made. Finally, nearly five weeks after the on-site interview, I received an automated rejection notice. The whole experience left me thinking that this company has a very odd culture. Skills and intelligence aren’t enough. Apparently they only want to hire someone who thinks just like them.
