      City Wide Director Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors

      Interview

submitted application through company's site. was contacted within a few days for a 10 minute phone conversation with a recruiter - was very general and quick. then was contacted by head of recruitment to have another short phone conversation - went well and was told to call the company's founder/owner next week for a longer phone interview. had what seemed to be a strong interview and a good conversation with owner, who told me i was a good fit and didn't see any problems with me moving forward in the interview process, that they were interviewing many other candidates that week but that all candidates would be contacted by the following with a status update...i followed up with owner and recruiter, but never heard back from anyone at the company. i realize that sadly this is "normal" in the current job search situation and economy...but when a company promises (specially when it comes directly from the CEO), they should uphold their promises if not for anything else but at least to keep up a positive reputation in the community, since this company is very community and word of mouth based.

      Interview

First interview was very short. Her questions were only two questions, including tell me about your past work experience and how do you relate to people and form relationships. The interview only took about 10-15 minutes, which I knew from the email that was sent previously before, which is what I used to set up the phone interview.

      Application

      Interview

Applied online and received an e-mail the next day asking for an initial interview. During e-mail correspondence he mentioned it would be 10-15 minutes, just an introduction. The actual phone call was just that, just an introduction. He asked me how I heard about VT, why I was interested. Then he went right in to asking if I was okay with working weekends and night shifts - on a rotating schedule. He was nice enough, just very blunt and straightforward. He said the next step would be a call with the CEO that would be scheduled within the next week, but never heard back. I have been passively looking at jobs for the past year and have noticed they constantly keep this job posted on Craigslist. I opened the job a few times prior and remember being turned off by the stock photo of the woman with the headset, but eventually applied because the reviews on Glassdoor showed higher than I had expected. Sure enough, the posting is still on Craigslist, being updated every couple weeks. I am expecting this to be just a floating opening, where they constantly interview and whatnot, but don't necessarily need or even want to hire. So, I am sure the Directors they have are happy and giving good ratings, but I also think it's in poor taste to not have any further communication with candidates (as in, send them a 'no thank you' email). I also have mixed feelings about keeping a posting consistently open just to always have a rotating applicant pool. I worked with a large hospitality company in the past and we would need to keep a pool open for certain jobs, but we always communicated when hiring would be, if we were passing, ect, and when we found a skilled candidate we always offered employment.

      Interview

Very reasonable and typical process. Had two phone interviews, one of which was with the CEO, then two Skype interviews with regional directors. Everyone is very friendly and more concerned with getting to you on a personal level.

      Question 1

They really want to know how you would approach an unhappy client.
