      Creative Video Editor Interview

      Jul 8, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 9 months. I interviewed at TubeScience (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2021

      Interview

I applied online several months ago and received an email 6 months later requesting a time to set up an interview. Had the call but it was very brief. Listen, I've been video editing for over a decade on almost any genre you can think of and the recruiter still felt the need to say I would be starting as an entry level, just because I don't have exact experience with facebook ads. I'm sorry, but I don't know anybody who makes a career out of facebook ads and it devalues anything I've done in the past that was 10X harder than 15 second videos. So it was a little ignorant and plus the pay was abysmal, especially for LA editing. I tried to turn the interview into a conversation but she felt the need to stick to a script (I don't like the sound of "reading") and it felt very cold. I'd want to talk to someone who actually works in production and not a recruiter for something like this. Because I truly believe they are shutting out talent this way. Also despite all this, they still asked me if I want to proceed with interest in the interview process. Felt very "High turn-over'ish" . In addition to that, really unprofessional to not even look over a resume before talking to a candidate. I don't care what stage of the interviewing process it is.

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TubeScience (Chicago, IL) in Jul 2021

      Interview

I applied on the website and was contacted by a recruiter about a month afterwards maybe less. I had a phone interview talking about my experience with editing and editing social media content. Then had a written interview where I basically answered the same questions. Was invited to do a practical. I was paid for my time doing that. Then invited for a Zoom interview with an editing manager on a Friday and received a job offer the following Monday.
