      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Toast Inc

      Interview

It was a very detailed process that was overall rewarding. I applied 6/15 and was offered 8/1. There are 4 total steps to the interview: 1. Phone Screen from Recruiter- you will chat about certain scenarios, past experience, and why Toast. Pretty simple step. 2. Behavior type interview with DM- a little similar to the phone screening but you will get much more into detail. Just keep it conversational and align your talk tracks to transferrable attributes that will align with Toast. 3. Presentation- I'm being completely honest, this was not that difficult. If you come prepared, you will crush it! You will go over your prospecting plan, you will research a restaurant within your territory and do an analytical report, and you will pitch Toast Go 2. Really do some great research, take it serious, and reach out to current AEs. I reached out to multiple AEs prior to this interview. I mainly focused on newer AEs or someone currently in bootcamp. The goal is to be ambiguous, not just to get answers for the interview. Final round with RVP- Super simple. We chatted about my history, and went over areas of opportunity per my presentation. Overall, it was a complex yet simple interview process. I have two recommendations: 1. Prior to each step in the process, email who you are meeting with to formally introduce yourself and state your goals. During the interview, talk about what you stated in the email and follow up on what you potentially discussed at the end of the interview. Also, send a follow up email. 2. HARD CLOSE. We are in sales. Don't be afraid to ask if you are a great fit for the role. Don't beat around the question, get to it. If you research, collab with current AEs, and work hard throughout the process, the odds will be in your favor!

      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at Toast Inc (Los Angeles, CA)

      Interview

Extremely tedious. Made it to the final interview and the person who would have been my boss was extremely robotic and had zero hospitality experience. It was so incredibly off putting and surprising that it completely threw me off my game.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Wanted me to answer how I would approach a business owner, and the correct answer was to follow their script. As someone who approached hospitality owners all day every day, especially in LA, that's about the worst thing you can do.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Saint Petersburg, FL) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Very odd interview process. I applied for the job online and received an automated email from the recruiter to schedule a time for the first interview. The earliest availability was over 3 weeks away, which seemed odd to me. I emailed the recruiter to confirm that it was the earliest availability, and he never responded. Fast forward 3 weeks to the interview... the recruiter was extremely cold and seemed a bit unprepared for our call. At the end of the call, the recruiter said he would follow up with me to let me know if I made it to the next round. I sent a follow up email thanking the recruiter for his time later that afternoon (after 5:00pm) and received an OOO message stating that he would be gone for the next 2 weeks?? Why would they schedule an interview 3 weeks in advance, the day before the recruiter is going on vacation??? I didn't end up getting another interview, but I don't think I had a fair chance based on the scheduling alone. I ended up following up with his manager because I wanted to get some feedback. She was quick to respond and nice, but overall I got a bad taste in my mouth about Toast based on the interview process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They mostly asked about previous experience and were looking for specific situational examples.
