      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Tiger Analytics (San Jose, CA) in Dec 2017

      Interview

I went through 2 phone interviews, and then had a F2F scheduled in San Jose. The two positions presented in the phone interviews were located in New Hampshire and Austin TX. While relocation was not optimal, NH was intriguing, and I love Austin. After getting up at 3:00am, waiting in the airport for 1.5 hours for a 6:30am flight, I went to San Jose for a 3 hour interview to begin at 10:00am. About an hour into the process, it was revealed that the position I was being considered for was located in Southwestern NJ near Trenton. This immediately destroyed my trust in the executive team members interviewing me; I completed the interview as a courtesy since they drove into their incubator offices from home, some with a 40 mile commute. This deceptive behavior immediately change my opinion of these executives as professionals and people. While they may be technically adept, it appears these executives have much to learn about integrity, honesty, transparency, and credibility. So, be very careful when dealing with this company in the interviewing process. Upon returning home, I sent an email to them formally withdrawing from consideration for the position as I do not trust these individuals in any capacity as a result of this experience.

My name is Pradeep Gulipalli, and I’m a Co-founder of the firm. Thank you for sharing candid feedback, and I sincerely apologize for the experience you had to go through. We never got to speak during your interview process, so I wanted to share with you how we operate. As a company, we provide data science consulting & services in a global delivery model, working primarily with client business teams. This often requires presence of our consultants in client offices for in-person interactions (just as in a management consulting set-up). To avoid frequent multi-day travel, we try to hire consultants in the same location as our clients, and we usually have multiple hiring requirements at any point. When speaking to candidates, we usually check for the best fit across multiple openings, subject to the candidates’ openness to relocate – some are open to relocation, while others have a strong location preference. We should have communicated this clearly to you and better set the context. Clearly, it looks like we did not do that and I apologize for the same; there was no unfair intent. I wish you the very best for your career. Regards Pradeep
