I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Trade Desk (Chicago, IL) in May 2021
Interview
First, I originally was referred by a current employee for TTD and also contacted by the senior recruiter as well. The recruiter was very responsive and honest throughout the entire process, which I really appreciated.
The interview process last around 4 weeks or so. There were technically 5 rounds: exploratory call, HR recruiter, Hiring Manager, Data Presentation, and Panel (4-5 people). Overall, everyone was super nice and most of the interviews were very conversational. I actually learned a lot from the process about myself and have a different perspective on current role. There weren’t any questions that really surprised me so I would just say prepare for standard interview questions.
My only issue is about my feedback regarding why they went with another candidate. Was told the team went with someone with a “stronger analytical skill set”. Personally, I feel my time was wasted. The amount time to prep, build a presentation deck, and take the time to have the interviews just to get a response that could’ve vetted me out in earlier stages, it’s a little ridiculous.
While I enjoyed meeting with team and learning more about the company, I probably will not apply for any more positions with TTD.

Question 1
Why do you want to work for TTD?
Name a time you had to be analytical.
How would you current teammates describe you?
Do you consider yourself more data-oriented or client facing?
Name a time you’ve had to deliver bad news to a client and how did you handle that situation?
So far pretty straightforward: Recruiter screening -> interview with hiring manager -> data presentation -> in-person interviews with different team members. Everyone has been really nice and helpful. Nervous about the data presentation portion.
The process included an initial HR screen, followed by an interview with the hiring manager, and a case study (presentation). Preparing the presentation took a lot of time and good knowledge of the TTD products. The final round would be 1:1 interviews with the team (did not make it to this round).

Question 1
When you look back on your career, what were the things you enjoyed doing and what did you not enjoy so much?
I interviewed at The Trade Desk (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
My recruiter was very helpful and the process is very clear and transparent; however it seems the expectations from the hiring team in the presentation round are very high. It's not as simple as are you willing to learn and work hard it seems.
