      Sales Associate Interview

      Oct 27, 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cincinnati, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at The Connor Group (Cincinnati, OH) in Oct 2023

      Interview

A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn, we had a 10min phone screen where I stated I wasn’t really interested in working weekends and they replied with a typical sales pitch of “how much money would it take for you to be willing to work weekends?” I decided to go through with an interview after that just for the experience. The next step was a 25min “rapid fire” interview. It honestly felt robotic and like a waste of time. It definitely made me feel like a number and not a person as it was clear that the recruiter was just reading off questions that were being recorded to then be filtered through a software and assigned numeric values based on my responses. This could have been accomplished through an online assessment or a pre-recorded video interview; there was no need to have a live recruiter ask me these questions since it’s not like we were having an actual conversation and there was no time or space for me to ask questions back about the job. It was all one-sided. They asked if I thought it was okay to use fear/intimidation or lie to close a sale multiple times in multiple different ways. I said no each time and explained a better approach, but I didn’t get an offer which leads me to believe that they are looking more for sharks and not for customer service minded people, even though they claim to be hiring food & beverage industry people for this job and not sales specific people. (I wouldn’t know why I didn’t get an offer since I didn’t receive feedback, even though direct feedback is purportedly something they highly value). They also bluntly asked if I care more about work or family…if a company has to ask that it’s because they expect to be the biggest priority in your life which isn’t realistic. Also, they don’t offer any kind of parental or maternity leave which is really lame for a company that brags about how much money they make and about being an amazing place to work. The Conner Group is looking for cult members, not employees.

Thanks for your feedback and sorry you didn't make it through our selection process. We are extremely selective in trying to find the right fit for both us and the candidate. Not sure that equates to us looking for cult members though... LOL. In fact, we have no cult here, just extremely talented and hard working folks that run a super successful business. I would be more than happy to discuss with you why you didn't get an offer. Feel free to reach out to me at cjemo@connorgroup.com and we can set up a call. Thanks

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at The Connor Group (Austin, TX) in Apr 2025

      Interview

I was reached out by a recruiter through LinkedIn and she seemed so excited wanting to connect with me, and as I was looking through the job description and about the company, and it seemed interesting, so I gave it a shot and scheduled the initial phone interview with the recruiter. The day comes and the recruiter calls me and we had our very basic interview questions, which I thought went pretty well. She seemed like a sweetheart and was very optimistic about my interview. She then tells me that she'll get with the hiring manager and she'll let me know what the next steps are in 24-48 hours, so it won't be till Friday (the phone interview was on Wednesday). I was very much looking forward to an email or whatever from the recruiter because she told me she would get back to me, and we all know that a lot of companies nowadays, they just ghost you, so when they tell you they'll get back to you, it's a relief, at least. As Friday passes and then a whole week has passed already at this point, I never got any news from the recruiter, I even tried emailing her and no response. It's very upsetting and disappointing because I really had my hopes up and I was really looking forward to the next steps in the interview process, but unfortunately, most companies nowadays, just ghost you instead of writing a rejection letter to you, how disappointing.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Cincinnati, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Connor Group (Cincinnati, OH) in Jul 2024

      Interview

I went through several rounds of interviewing. At first it felt more like a conversation where I was able to address questions that I had as well. In later interviews I had a 30 minute call where I answered all of their questions. After 3 rounds of interviews, I never heard from them again. However, one of their recruiters contacted me twice on linkedin to hire me for the same position that I had already interviewed for. I very kindly told her about my experience where they had ghosted me in the interviewing process. The recruiter viewed my message and gave no response. I liked the people that I interviewed with, they were very friendly and the process wasn't stressful, but I didn't hear from them in any capacity after weeks of interviewing.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was asked about certain sales tactics and whether or not I thought they were acceptable to use on customers.
