      Senior Director Interview

      Oct 21, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Teach for America

      Interview

This was for an internal TFA program leadership role. I applied online and about 2 weeks later, was invited for an initial screening interview. Unfortunately, the interview was via Interviewstream, which conducts one-way recorded video interviews. I was given a question, 2-3 minutes to prepare my answer, then 1-2 minutes to deliver my answer. I was allowed one take per question. I was not given the opportunity to record any questions for TFA as part of the interview. I understand that TFA has a lot of applicants and screening interviews can take up recruiters' time, but for the level of role I was interviewing for--that would lead a large program, manage staff, with a 6-figure salary--I would have figured the first interview would have been with an actual person. I've worked remotely for years so video interviews/meetings are my norm. However, the one-way video format with limited time to answer while watching a timer count down was distracting and felt like I wasn't worth the time to have a conversation with a live person. The interview was 30 minutes, I believe they asked 3-5 questions.

      Question 1

They stated their mission and asked how this role aligned with that mission. Talk about a time you had to build a program.
