I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services (Shimoga) in Sep 2016
Interview
On the first day of the selection process we had the aptitude round where we were first asked to write a formal email using the given keywords(Remember backspaces count as negative so think before you type, stay within the word limit range and use all the keywords). The time limit for email writing is 10 minutes after which the computer automatically submits.
The email writing round is followed by the quantitative and numerical aptitude round where we are given 30 MCQs to answer within 80 minutes. The cutoff in our college was probably around 20 right answers. The questions include topics like basic math, blood relations, probability, statement reasoning etc. The overall difficulty level of the paper is moderate. For my preparation I studied previous year papers and mock papers from the bizotic website.
The next day the selected students from the aptitude round were called for interview. There are three interview rounds i.e. technical,HR and managerial round(Depending on the recruiters these rounds may be merged to have lesser number of rounds). The technical round is the longest and the most important round in my opinion. If the candidate performs well in this round he is almost selected. The questions are basic topics from our subjects. Since I am from Electronics branch I was asked questions from Networks, Logic Design,Computer Networks, AEC etc. I was also asked to write some basic C programs. Then in the HR round they asked questions like reason for joining this company, ability to work in a team, willingness to work at different locations etc. In the last round I was asked if not this field what other fields I was interested in and also abstract questions like choosing between a sheep and a wolf, what does a dot on paper signify, three things to take from a drowning ship etc.
Overall the atmosphere was friendly and the interviewers were not rude and waited patiently for our answers. I got the offer letter two days after the interview and we are required to accept the offer letter within a week.

Interview
After clearing the TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT), I attended a single interview round that combined technical and HR questions. The interviewer focused on my projects, programming knowledge, and understanding of current technologies. One of the main discussion topics was the difference between traditional software systems and AI-based systems. The interview was conversational, and the interviewer evaluated problem-solving ability, communication skills, and technical understanding. The overall experience was positive and the difficulty level was average.
