I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at TJ Maxx (Cleveland, OH) in Jun 2016
Interview
Very detailed and 1.5 hours long. The district manager asks very good probing questions and also goes into detail about the position and the company. TJ Maxx is a little behind on technology and the district manager explained why. Their focus is more on the customer so their technology needs to improve, which it will. But, they're trying to keep payroll in the stores as well.
I had the prescreen — they mainly asked basic questions. One of them was about how I usually promote someone and the steps I take during that process. I explained how I evaluate performance, look for leadership traits, give stretch assignments, and provide coaching before recommending a promotion. It felt more like a general screening to understand my leadership style.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TJ Maxx (East Haven, CT) in Sep 2024
Interview
More like a discussion than an interview. Pleasant people who seemed quite genuine and loved their business. They were very communicative during the process, keeping me well informed of where we were in the cycle.
Phone interview and then video interview was the whole process. They were very straight forward with questions. I originally applied for home goods and they were a little messier and confusing
