Interview:
The first step was I briefly spoke to a hiring Manager (not sure if that was the official title). Let's call that the phone interview. Approx. 3-5 days later (may have been a weekend) went by and I went in for an interview. I interviewed with the Hiring Manager and two members of the Marketing Department. I thought things went fairly well—I froze on a few questions.
Environment:
They all asked a lot of question but, just not the environment for me. If you prefer the start-up environment, this is not the place for you. It is pretty traditional and a standard seeming 9-5 desk job. It did not scream Graphic Designer, if that is what you are looking for.
The People:
Also, during the two times that I talked to the Hiring Manager over the phone, their tone lacked excitement and sounded slightly irritated. When I met the HMGR in person, they were quite accommodating to my surprise.
After The Interview:
After the interview, I sent a "Thank You" email. I did not receive a response, however, found only a few minutes later an automated email that said I was not the candidate that they would choose for the position.
I am most "turned off" that after sending a well thought out human-generated response, I received an automated email of decline. I understand streamlining business processes, but, don't forget the human aspect of it. I was not expecting a "Thank You" for my "Thank You," however, in regards to the "family" vibe they strive for, I would have accepted something a little more personal.
