I applied online. I interviewed at Synack (Phoenix, AZ) in Jan 2026
Interview
Interviews: Recruiter, Systems API & Design, SDET/QA, Engineering Director.
* Recruiter - Screening
* Staff Engineer - Systems API & Design
* SDET/QA - Testing insights and paradigms
* Engineering Director - Situational & Technical Questions
Passed all interviews and received verbal confirmation of intent to hire.
I wish the company had treated late-stage verbal offers with the seriousness they warrant. After five interviews and repeated assurances that an offer was being prepared, reversing the decision on the expected offer date reflected a breakdown in internal alignment and candidate care. Ensuring that restructuring decisions are resolved before signaling a hire would protect candidate trust and better align Synack’s process with its stated values.

Question 1
What kind of data points would you utilize to ensure that a high traffic system was starting to degrade in performance?
Had two phone calls. Both times they went very well, its felt very engaging. I had no opportunity to show my technical expertise despite being told multiple times I had the exact skill set the position was looking for. I felt like my time was very much not respected.
Unfortunately I had a terrible interview experience with this company. I went through 5 1:1 interviews and a 6th final panel presentation. I experienced a breakdown in communication during the final stage of the interview process. I was provided with the wrong presentation prompt for the final panel. Three minutes into my prepared 20-minute presentation, the panel stopped me to inform me of the error and that they wanted to shift to Q&A(assuming other candidates were given the correct prompt). Despite doing my best to adapt, I felt unprepared and at a disadvantage. A clearer process and better candidate communication would have ensured fairness and a more accurate evaluation of my qualifications. It would have been more professional to let me finish and then ask what other questions they had for me in the Q&A portion, given how extensive the prompt was.
