      Interview

Submitted resume on the company website, was contacted initially by HR. Had two phone screening, two interviews on site. HR talent acquisition was very knowledgeable about their product, very cordial friendly and accommodating in scheduling and interview process, gave me a tour of the company and facilities where their bots are tested with detailed tech descriptions. All interviewing managers are former high level engineers, knowledgeable, friendly, interview process left very positive impression.

      Engineer Interview

      Jul 13, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Wilmington, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Symbotic (Wilmington, MA) in Apr 2018

      Interview

This was probably one of my weirdest interviewing experiences. I met one of the engineers at a career fair and we talked about my experiences and he was very impressed. I asked him what the company is looking for and what issues they are currently tackling. I had the impression that everything was chaos and everything was an issue. He told me he will reach out probably the next day. A couple of weeks later I was invited to an on-site interview with five different engineers including two VPs from two different teams. I arrived at the facility and got a quick tour. After that I met with five different people including two VPs. I generally got the impression that the company has been going through a lot lately, everything seemed kinda unorganized and chaotic. There was no real interview process. None of the people knew really how to interview me. We basically talked about all the issues the company is currently facing but nothing about my skills, experiences. They didn’t have a specific role in mind, I got asked a lot what I would like to work on and I replied by telling them which project I found interesting and how I would tackle the issue. I didn’t feel that my fit, skills, experiences or anything was assessed at all. Basically, the whole interview was about what was not working currently. And none of the engineers seemed really excited or enthusiastic abou their work. At the end I had a wrap up conversation with HR and they told me they would discuss and then send me an offer the next day if they saw a fit. I then never heard back from them.

We’re sorry to hear you had a less than stellar interview experience and we appreciate you sharing your feedback. It sounds like your interview experience was not typical for Symbotic either, but nonetheless we want every candidate to have a positive and productive introduction to Symbotic. I will make sure someone connects with you to close the loop, if they haven’t already.
