I had a positive experience with hiring process which consists with few stages: assessment online test, culture interview, test task development and technical interview. I think that such process provides good understanding about both sides needs and expectations. It was comfortable for me and gave clear picture about company and understanding that I want to work with them.
Few words about each stage :)
Assessment online test
It's a good starting point with general questions about required skills like WordPress, PHP, OOP, JS, React and basic CSS. There is time limit for this task but it was not really stressful as it has enough time to complete.
Culture interview
This step demonstrated that the company prioritizes finding candidates who are not only skilled but also fit well within the team. There was a friendly talk about company and people who work with it, about me and my experience.
Test task development
I would say that task looks as usual problem which you solved many times during your development experience but you need to check many details and take special care about code quality, patterns etc. And what I liked is that task is well documented, all details mentioned, so you do not need to spend time on understanding of what needed to implement or asking additional questions, however you are free to ask if something not clear. This step takes the most of time due to expected attention to details and quality.
Technical interview
The technical interview was a fitting conclusion to the process. It was evident that the interviewers had a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the role. It was comfortable and I did not feel that interviewers want to find something that I'll not able to answer or try to ask uncomfortable questions. This talk was more similar to code review to see if you understand what done in task and why you choose one or another technology, pattern etc.
Overall, I'm satisfied with interview process. The comprehensive approach gave a clear understanding of the company's values and what they're looking for, at the same time I understand that such process gives them good overview about candidate. So, I can recommend and looking forward to work with them since I got and accepted an offer. Good luck!
