      Interview

Contacted me last minute to reschedule the interview. Things come up, no big deal, so I had no problem pushing it back a day. Except…they never called the second time and my follow up email was ignored.

      Question 1

Would you be able to reschedule?

      Web Software Engineer Interview

      Jun 25, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Sweetwater in Jun 2021

      Interview

tl;dr no chance of hiring into this position remotely, regardless of level of talent. Don't pursue unless you're willing to live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Also don't ask them many questions during your interview, they don't seem to like that. ---------- After scheduling and rescheduling a phone call with the company's manager of engineering & technical talent, my screening interview took place roughly 8 days after submitting my application (wasn't upset, just noting). When called, I immediately picked up on an extreme tone of apathy from the manager I was speaking with. They informed me that I would speak to two different managers over the course of the 30 minute call, and proceeded to briefly inquire about my credentials. After a fairly uninformative synopsis of the company, with no real insight given as to work requirements/expectations, other than a non-negotiable relocation agreement to Indiana, the manager then asked if I had any questions. After asking a few questions (i.e. size of team, further explanation of their relocation agreement, possibility of remote work ever, etc.), I could tell the manager was becoming aggravated. It's clear now I didn't pass that manager's portion of the interview, because after speaking they paused for (what felt like) at least 15 seconds and just responded with, "So...anything else?" After affirming I was finished, they responded with, "Well, have a great day" and hung up less than 15 minutes into the call. I received a boilerplate rejection email signed by [[[recruiterName]]] 3 days after that interview. I'm sure there are people who have had positive interactions with this company while interviewing for this position, I just wasn't one of them.

      Web Developer Interview

      Jul 6, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Fort Wayne, IN
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Sweetwater (Fort Wayne, IN)

      Interview

I was really excited for this opportunity, hearing great things about Sweetwater and loving music and the industry. Honestly it was a big let down on almost all fronts. I'll try to break it down so it's easy to read. Cons: They will Wonderlic test you. And they care about the results. As an experienced Software Engineer I found the elementary school level questions somewhat insulting (i.e. "Which number is larger, 0.1 or 0.01"?). Compensation isn't adequate for the position/modern technologies being used unless they want employees with no experience (see below). Tech Leadership has no experience with the technologies they want to start using. Vacation time offered was 5 days a year, the lowest by far I have ever seen in Software Development. Company wants to throw developers at the project and will "hire QA later", no release cycles, really just a lot of cowboy coding and position abuse (devs are QAs, BAs and designers) No working from home. Business casual attire and looking over your shoulder all the time (i.e. salaried workers get reprimanded for using phones/personal sites "during work"). They won't ask you to display any sort of coding ability whatsoever, maybe this is a pro for the less skilled? Pros: Generous interview process with food and lodging. Beautiful facilities. They at least _want_ to modernize the P&T team, and application. Overall there was a positive culture and I'd like to hope they will improve compensation and some of the quite draconian aspects of both the position and the hiring process. If they did I'd give them another shot.
