After the initial application I received a phone call to confirm availability for a second interview within a week. There was a 15 minute Zoom interview, one on one. There was basic info followed by like 3 random goofy questions.
Disappointing. I spoke to the hiring manager on the phone and it went well. I was scheduled for the stage/ in-person interview with a strict dress code- which I was sure to follow, so I bought the dark jeans and the non-slip shoes. I was told it would be a working interview. I passed that round- but left with an uneasy feeling. The next guy was a zoom- the COO. He acted like the very easy job was above my skill set, and was somehow complex- even though I’d done more difficult at the beginning of my career years and years ago. And he acted like I’d never managed a bakery with cakes (5 years) and knew nothing about cakes despite my baking and pastry associate degree. I found the entire process demeaning. I was rejected over the phone.
I applied online. I interviewed at SusieCakes (Newport Beach, CA) in Jul 2025
Interview
The application asks for a video and the interview was a phone call. There were a couple emails and text back and forth. They wanted full time only. It sounds like a job where all hands are on deck. I was not interested in working all holidays which is also required.
