I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Standard Chartered Bank in Oct 2025
Interview
I applied through the official career website and received an interview invitation about two weeks later.
The process started with a brief HR phone call to introduce the interview steps and arrange the schedule for the first round.
The first-round interview took place shortly afterward, and I received feedback on the same day. Following that, I was assigned a case study, one part focused on improving my favorite app, and another on driving adoption and engagement growth for a digital banking scenario. The task was expected to be completed within a week, followed by a presentation in the second-round interview.
However, the HR team later reached out again, mentioning that they wanted to accelerate the process, so the case study presentation was put aside. They immediately scheduled the second-round interview instead.
During the second round, both the interviewer and I realized that there wasn’t a strong mutual fit, and we mutually decided to end the interview process at that stage. If I had passed this round, the next step would have been an onsite interview.

- Ended with a short Q&A session where I could ask questions about the team and role.
Second Round (Virtual)
- Started with a brief greeting and introduction.
- Repeated questions about why I left my previous role, and whether I was fired.
- Asked me to describe my previous companies in detail.
- Discussed technical aspects of my past work, such as the architecture used in remote applications I managed.

Interview
HR gives you a phone call and drops you a text if you do not pick up. No introduction of the role is made. They call you to only schedule the interview. It’s anyone’s guess on how technical or casual the next round is.
The interviewers do not give any introduction on the role. You give an introduction of yourself and the test begins.
They also prefer citizens / PR for reasons known.
People with pure product management / ownership experience should not apply. They are filtering for engineers or data analysts who want to be Product Owners.
i.e if the role is an AI Product Owner, you are expected to mathematically digest and teach them how it all works. They will go into the intricacies of things. i.e specific syntaxes, etc. If you are not the right fit, they will try embarrass you and end the call immediately. For certain other Product Owner roles, you are expected to write code in this live session.
Maybe the role should be called Data Engineer / Data Analyst / AI engineer instead.
Nothing in this interview ties back to the proper responsibility and role of an actual Product Owner, especially when Claude and other AI tools can help.

Interview
Got an HR call for an interview. Was going well but they were looking for one skill only. And this seems very cool and calm. But I didn't get response from HR till date
