This was genuinely the worst interview experience I’ve had in my career.
Interviews are naturally high-pressure situations, so most experienced interviewers at least attempt to create a welcoming atmosphere and build some rapport with the candidate. Unfortunately, this process felt completely devoid of that. The entire interview came across as cold, robotic and strangely passive aggressive, to the point where it genuinely felt more like an interrogation than a conversation.
There was no meaningful attempt to get to know me as a person, discuss my experience in depth, explore my biggest achievements, or understand what excited me about the role or the project itself. Every question felt rigid and transactional, with little sense of humanity or enthusiasm from the two interviewees. If you feel Zoom calls are cold/awkward, you haven't experienced anything yet!
I left the interview feeling deeply uncomfortable and honestly said to my partner afterwards that I hoped I wouldn’t get the role because the culture presented felt incredibly sterile and uninspiring. When I later found out I hadn’t been selected, I was actually relieved, as I would have declined the offer regardless.
For a studio built around community and player passion, the interview process displayed remarkably little warmth, personality or emotional intelligence.
