I was approached via email by someone in HR, asking if I'd be interested in applying, as the position seemed to be a good fit with my skillset. We proceeded to exchange emails, I put in an application via their website, and then had a phone conversation with the HR person. Because I'd read previous information here, I knew to ask about their 1) open-plan office, and 2) expectation of crazy work hours. The HR person confirmed that this was the case, and we wrapped things up, as both of those are deal-killers for me.
