I applied online. I interviewed at Somerset Council (Shepton Mallet, England) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was fair, and started with an email to confirm an interview. They emailed me a link to book an interview at a time/date slot that worked for me. When I arrived, the council building was quiet, but professional, and I was quickly invited in by 3 interviewers. All of them were friendly, open and honest about the job and Somerset council. They asked me 15 questions and it didn't feel pressurised. The interview was completed in 45 minutes and they emailed me a week later to let me know the outcome.

Interview
Women were cold, unwelcoming. One started answered a couple of questions! Give me chance! Seen the job come up twice since, no wonder! Pleased to leave the grotty county hall. Got a better job.

Interviewed in June 2025, by a panel of two, the team leader of the department and another colleague. It was a relatively good experience, with typical questions to the role/essential criteria. There were no development opportunities though
