      Marketing Consultant Interview

      Jan 12, 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pittsburgh, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Snap Retail (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jul 2014

      Interview

First there is a phone interview. This only lasted about 20 minutes and had very specific questions about if you were in ___ situation, what would you do? all related to the services that Snap Retail provides. Then there is a written interview, which will take up to 2 hours and maybe more. This much be completed before going in for an in person interview. This interview consists of talking to the position supervisor, someone who currently holds the position, and possibly someone who held the position in the past and then was promoted. All of these questions are similar to the phone interview, a lot of examples are given and you are asked to describe how you would handle the situation. If you make it past this multi interview, you will be asked to bring in a presentation. This presentation consists of a marketing plan, and a social media plan for two imaginary companies. I presented my presentation to a large room with one person in it. It was sufficiently awkward since all of the information asked for took up about 45 minutes and I was only getting reaction from one person, so be prepared. After this, they make a hiring decision. I bombed the presentation due to illness and awkwardness, therefore no job offer was made.

      Question 1

During the phone interview I was completely taken off guard answering questions based on imaginary scenarios instead of questions based off of my resume and experience. So be prepared.

      Marketing Consultant Interview

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Snap Retail (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jan 2014

      Interview

The interview process was incredibly frustrating. I was given a phone interview and then a large packet to fill out. Then I was brought in for a 2 and a half hour in-person interview with three different people. I was made to feel like I had the job six hours from my home. I was required to come back to Pittsburgh to give a marketing presentation about a furniture store (their primary industry was the small retail gift shops) and I never heard from them after the presentation was complete. When I contacted them, I was told that they weren't hiring anyone for the position. It turns out that many of the people that I interviewed with were laid off within the next few months after I interviewed.
